Join Me at Blood Drive This Saturday

Senator Judy SchwankA blood donation is a truly lifesaving gift. Every two seconds, someone in the United States requires a blood transfusion. There is always a need for blood donations.

Since the age of 18, I have been a regular blood donor. It's a contribution that almost any adult can give regularly without too much inconvenience. Best of all, it's a way to give back no matter your income level because you're donating the gift of life. One blood donation can save as many as four lives!

I encourage you to join me this weekend for a blood drive that I am co-hosting with Miller-Keystone Blood Center. It takes place this Saturday, Feb. 18. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dairy Queen locations in Kenhorst and Exeter.

The Dairy Queen locations’ owner Hamid Chaudhry will sweeten the deal for everyone who gives blood that day: A free ice cream cake.

I will be spending time at both locations that day to talk to you about your concerns.

If you are 17 years of age or older, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and in general good health, you are most likely eligible to donate blood.

MKBC is the only blood supplier to 24 hospitals in our region, and Mr. Chaudhry is a wonderful community partner. I'm proud to partner with them and I hope to see you Saturday.
